We had our first minor mechanical hitch before setting off. As I put my weight onto the front-left footpeg it broke off, seemingly from metal fatigue. We're really grateful that it didn't happen while riding and that we were still in a major city. I called Wolfgang from Dubbelju and he helpfully gave me the details of a BMW dealer in Hollywood. I called them and they fortunately had a spare in stock, so we set off with my leg dangling and at the dealer one of the mechanics helped me fit it for free.
Then we could hit the road; through the highways onto the interstate.
After San Bernadino valley the clouds started to clear.
And the into the heat of the Mojave Desert.
Eventually Las Vegas was in sight.
Then we were cruising on the strip
.
We booked our hotel before we left LA and decided to splash out on a nice room on the strip and chose the Palazzo.
We were blown away by the size and luxury of our suite in the Palazzo: a three-room suite, television in each room (yes, including the bathroom), electrically-controlled curtains, climate control, and host of other small details. And the crazy thing about Vegas is that this suite costs less per night than the Best Western we stayed in in Santa Maria.
The 43rd floor window has a fantastic view
We went for a walk on the strip and grabbed a cocktail and some food, but were quite tired so headed back to our suite for an early night.
Today: exploring more of Las Vegas and the David Copperfield show tonight.
