When we dropped the bike off at Dubbelju, I met Wolfgang and was anxious to know what they had found wrong with the bike. He had taken it for a long ride, his mechanic had taken it for a ride, he had taken it to BMW and they had inspected it and ridden it, and no one could find anything wrong. It was suggested that perhaps it was just bumps in the road, perhaps the wind, perhaps a stone in the brakes. All I can say is that I knew how the bike should feel after 1,800 miles on it and I was certain there was something mechanically wrong and am confident I made the right decision to not ride further on the bike.

I had no choice but to pay for the towing myself and we agreed that if something turned up in the near future that they would refund me.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem could have been please post a comment.

You did the right thing. I ride a 1200 GS and I had the same experience of something not being right straight after a service. It turned out a timing belt or something was not correctly installed which could have done some damage to the engine. Love the Blogg keep it up. Inspiring me to do a tour of my own. Serge.
