We had some of the best riding today that we've experienced on the trip: nice roads; challenging twisties; sparse traffic.
After setting out from Las Vegas we were in the desert again.
As we appoached Death Valley we were congratulating ourselves for choosing a good time of year because it wasn't so hot.
Then we descended into the valley and the temperature peaked at 104°F (40°C). The RT kept her cool perfectly though.
There were some really great twisty sections as the road rose out of the valley, over a small range, back into another valley and out again.
After that the temperature settled at about 93°F for the rest of the day. Riding west into the setting sun wasn't great for our faces even though we put plenty of cream on - we're both quite red-nosed and sore.
We found a small hotel near Bakersfield and settled in for the night.
Tomorrow into the mountains.
